This is an AMT Toyota Pickup 4x4
The kit is a snap together model, but it's not bad, and it's simple enough to assemble.
There's no engine (it's a curbside model) but the rest of truck has some fair detalling, especially the undercarriage. The bottom half of an "engine" is molded into the chassis.
A front grille bull bar is included, which has a molded in winch. The rear features a step bumper.
The roll bar (or rather, "show bar") is also included.
The interior is simple and includes the transfer case shifter and transmission shifter.
The tailgate is molded into the body so it's all one big piece with the cab. The inside of the bed is molded as one piece and slips into position from above. This to me really simplified building the kit and that's a positive.
There are no clear pieces to use except for the windows. The headlights are molded into the grille, and the taiilights are molded into the tailgate. You will need to paint those (by hand) to make them stand out.
The wheels, molded in molded in white, can be painted however you want. I painted mine with chrome paint.
Two decal schemes are included. One featuring brown colors, the other featuring a grey / silver color. I chose to use the brown one.
I had a few issues where the decals did not quite handle laying down flat around the the wheel well bulges.
Overall the model was a fun kit to build. Just enough parts to make it enjoyable without turning it into a complicated project.
Sometimes it's just good to assemble and paint a model because it's fun. |
