This is AMT's 1966 Chevy Nova Pro-Street model kit.
This model was originally issued as a stock or slightly modifed version when it first came out. A few years later this pro street version was released.
They share many major components, primarily the body, hood, and windshield and glass, as well as other smaller parts.
The suspensions, chassis, tires and wheels, interior, and some other parts are all new for this version of the model.
The first version when I built it was a good kit and I remember I was very impressed at just how good the kit was. This version let me down.
There was a lack of tabs and guides so you knew where parts needed assembly. The tires would loose the bead on the rims, making them fussy and constantly has to be remounted to look right.
The front suspension is very weak. It barely supports the model. Getting the front wheels straight was a major issue. They tended to bow with the spindles and A-arms not being able to properly support the car.
I panted the car a blue to more or less match the car on the box. I added a driver side 3D printed racing seat. The kit includes a back seat but I left it out.
The hood has the molded in lines on where to cut it open for the engine tunnel ram and carbs.
The engine is done well (I believe this is a carry over from the original kit). Since I like to see blowers and tunnel rams when they poke through the hood I didn't use the included hood scoop.
If I built this car again I would look for a more substantial front suspension from another kit. |
