Admiralty
Ship Models - Quality handmade wooden sailing ship models
(scratchbuilt static display model ships). Each one of our famous
historic ship models is scratch built (i.e. handcrafted from
scratch) from the best wood (Mature Teak - Grade A Tectona Grandis)
for excellent resistance to ageing. All the ships decorations
and ornaments are handcarved wooden pieces. Our authentic models
are not built from prefabricated kits but are based on the original
Admiralty ships plans available in the UK. All the ship replicas
on our site are completely scratch-built using wooden plank
on frame technique. Our hancrafted sailing ships range from
large scale tall ship models to medium size scale model ships
and general nautical decor.
Age
of Sail - All ship models are hand-made at our studio/workshop
in Whitby Ontario, Canada from fine wood materials such as birch,
mahogany, maple, oak, pear and teak. Sails are hand-sewn and
aged, hulls are either solid, plank-on-frame or bulkhead construction.
The ships are stained, painted and varnished to protect your
ship model for decades to come. Think of us as a miniature shipyard
ready to research, design and build that ship or boat with special
significance or aesthetic value.
Alterscale
- Alterscale miniatures are the only true outboard motor collectibles
ever cast! Evinrude and Johnsons are approximately 7 1⁄2
inches tall, Mercury and Mariner V6s are 7 inches tall.
All models are in 1:9 scale. The models are finely detailed
and exquisitely diecast in metal. Paint schemes are authentic.

at Flagship Models design our detail sets by ship class. This

provides a wealth of facts about these motor torpedo boats,
whose vast range of operation covered two oceans as well as
the Mediterranean and the English Channel. Although their
primary mission was to attack surface ships and craft close
to shore, they were also used effectively to lay mines and
smoke screens, to rescue downed aviators, and to carry out
intelligence and raider operations. The author gives special
attention to the crews, paying well-deserved tribute to their
heroism, skill, and sacrifice that helped to win the war.

Building
The Wooden Fighting Ship - This is a wonderfully illustrated
book on the building of the HMS Thunderer, a 74-gun British
ship-of-the-line. Moore and Dodds have researched the extensive
actual records still available from the construction of this
vessel. Readers are taken through every process of construction,
from wood selection to launching. Beautifully rendered, accurate
line drawings and period draughts are a bonus. There is
at least one black and white picture on each page to clarify
an easily read text. If you build model ships or are interested
in the art of naval shipbuilding at its peak, read this book!
Pirate
Ship 1660-1730 - This title redresses the imbalance, conducting
a detailed exploration of the wide variety of pirate vessels
that sailed the high seas during the 'golden age' of piracy
(1690–1730), from gun-bristling warships to smaller
craft such as sloops, brigantines and early schooners. It
incorporates the latest archaeological evidence to produce
a fascinating account of these vessels, detailing their origins,
development and tactical engagement. Packed with contemporary
illustrations and superbly detailed color artwork, the
ships of the 'golden age' are brought vividly to life.
