XL5 Rocket Space Ship |

Hobbylink
Japan has an Aoshima
Fireball XL5 kit. It's already painted and such, but it's
still a unique subject. Especially since it is molded plastic
instead of a resin kit. I didn't even know Aoshima made such
kits (having built some of their car models). Plus I'm a big
Gerry Anderson fan.(they also make a Stingray).
Most
people probably have never seen this, the Honda
Robot model kit. You may remember a similar version of the
real robot in a Honda commercial from last year. It's pretty
cool. Something I think kids would like to build as well as
adults. (Including me). Be sure and poke around their site,
there are several Honda robot versions.

Lunar Rover Resin Kit |

I
have always thought of building an Apollo Lunar Rover. Preferably
in a scale such as 1/24 or larger. It's one of the back burner
scratch building projects that I never seem to get around to.
What
brings this up now is a site that is model related, but a model
of a different kinds. If you are familiar with 3D
software and art, you might call it a mesh.
But what really may interest a plastic modeler is the poster
they sell. If you ever thought of making a rover, it looks this
would be a good start for detailed
information and pictures.
Heck,
if you really want to get crazy, and you have a fast connection,
you can download
the official Lunar Rover Nasa handbook.
If
you want to build a Rover from a kit, EVA
models offers one. Also, here
is a review of that same kit.

Alien Pulse Rifle Firepower 1:1 Kit |
| September
18, 2005 |
What
do you do when you want to keep a badass Alien down ? You give
the Marines something to take him down with. Monsters in Motion
has the Pulse Rifle.
And buddy, it's all business.
In
fact, it's a 1.1 replica. Check out the breakdown. I know these
guns show up now and then as kits, from different companies,
but it looks like this one takes the prize.

Car |

Hey,
saw a Bricklin this morning
on the way to work. A red/orange one. Don't see those cars too
often. Wonder if a kit was ever done of those cars ?
This
one I saw was hauling ass too. I knew they came with a Ford
V8, maybe this one was hot rodded up some.

Police Decals |

PoliceCarmodels.com
has some new police decals from Fowler's
Enforcers. I like the way they give you photos of the real
cars for decal placement. The Corona one has dog decals for
a K-9 unit. Very cool.

Hotties |

Lindberg
is going to be making some hot figures your diorama you probably
can't do without. There's a series 1 and a series 2. Both include
4 pre painted figures. Pretty cool. Not only that, they are
only around $ 5.00 per set !
| Starblazers
Yamato Model Kit 2005 |
| Starblazers
Cartoon Manga Series |
This
seems to be a new concept to me. Monsters
in Motion is going to carry a Yamato
Starship from Starblazers,
but the thing I find interesting is that it is pre made into
8 pieces, which you can "deconstruct" into separate
parts, revealing inside detail.
It
looks like the parts are being sold together from MM, but I
wonder if sold in Japan, if the parts are sold separately, and
you trade with friends or hunt down all the parts (from various
stores?) to assemble later.

the Moon Alice ... Apollo Launch Complex |

It's
bigger, it's badder, it's well, one huge intricate model kit.
I'm talking about Launch Complex
Models huge Saturn
V Launch Complex 39. Be sure and check out all that brass
/ photoetch ! Yikes ! I don't think you will be building that
sucker on a weekend.
Still,
it would be pretty impressive next to a Saturn V kit.
Speaking'
of old time stuff, let's see a show of hands for people who
remember Clutch
Cargo ? Hey! I see a hand or two. Yep, that's a bygone era.

| Trikes
Are Back and More ! Shaker Trike Model Kits |
| September
3, 2005 |
Well, one of them is. And I don't mean the 1/25
scale trikes, how about a full blown 327 powered Carl Casper
Trike !
If
you are a Football Fan, as well as a model builder, you may
want to think about getting a Gridiron
Grabber. Love this ole '70's stuff. Check out the dual wheels
on the back of that thing. Hmmm.
A
1972 Chevy Blazer is
also coming out. Not sure if it includes any goodies, like the
stuff on the roof.
If
you been wanting to get a resin Mad
Max Ford, or a resin XC
Ford Falcon, you don't have to order them from Australia.
you can get them right here in the U.S now directly from Model
Roundup.

Wars Fine Molds Millennium Falcon |
| September
1, 2005 |
Fine
Molds Millennium Falcon is a little closer to being available.
Looks like January 2006 date. Over 800 parts !! Whew that's
a lot.
What
is the line, between when a model is a model, and then becomes
a prop? or replica? Check out this B9
Robot replica, which is 1/2 the size of the original. And
the best part, it's in kit form, you get to assemble it.

If
you are a first visitor to the Model News, the
August blog has been archived. It is also listed in the
right column if you want to view older postings or look for
something I may have talked about before. If you did not get
a chance to read July and August, I recommend taking a look.
