iHobby Show - Expo 2008 |
|
Scifi related models from the iHobby Expo Show |
Here
are some new kits and products to be release at the end of this
year and into 2009. This list was compiled and written by Steve
from over at CultTVMan.
I'm
going to just do a quick list here, but see his site for more
details and information.
For
car and truck builders, there were also a lot of new products
at iHobby 2008, and some older reissues. Some that haven't seen
the light of day since, well, the 1960's and '70's !
For
some really nice pictures from the Expo, courtesy of Model
Cars Magazine, CLICK HERE! Looks
like a lot of car and truck model kits will be draining our
wallets for next year!

splash teaser below is courtesy of Bud

Aoshima "Super Z" Initial Type Model Kit |
|
Nissan 300Z Super Z Model Kit |
Aoshima
has released this kit before, but for Nissan
and Z-series car model fanatics, it is unique. Presenting,
the Super
Z Intial Type. Currently, Hobby Search is accepting
preorders.
Taken
from an Anime series (of some kind I believe), this Z-car
features gull wing doors and some other unique (super
spy type) details. While several other 300Z
kits exist, as stock based, this one is on it's own.

KFS Kit Form Services Resin Model Kits |
|
1/24th Scale HMLC 6x6 Alvis Stalwart Kit |
Work
is now well under way on KFS' Kit Form Services very first
1/24th scale classic British military project, an Alvis
Stalwart 6x6. Bear in mind these are the 'basic' patterns only,
so the picture does not show the 'duplicated' parts where identical
parts are used & yet need to be produced. Things like the
second hatch lid or various suspension components. The parts
count so far allowing for duplicated cast resin & metal
parts is just about 200. Also still to do are all of the brass
etch parts which should number around 50 items, swim board brackets,
side board hinges, grills, badges & the like. Decals are
still to do, dashboard gauges, data plates, unit markings etc.
The
tyre master still has to be rapid prototyped & sent away
for steel tooling to be made for the injection molded rubber
tyres. The main hull is a hollow one piece casting @ 10.5"
long, complete with bevel box & drive shaft detail, separate
radiators & fan belts, separate cab top section (in place
for picture only) fully detail cab interior with dash &
all controls including marine controls, very highly detailed
Rolls Royce B81 engine complete with filters, gearbox, PTO,
Dowty swim jets (all coupled up by relative prop shafts). Fuel
tank, oil tank, hydraulic tank, air tanks. Removable decking,
optional positioning for side & rear body panels.
The engine assembly 'could' if required be assembled complete
with gearbox, filters, Dowty jets & drives & be mounted
on a separate stand outside of the main vehicle (instructional
model/museum display style). There is also a degree of working
steering, although due to the nature of the construction &
material limitations this is restricted to about 25 degrees
& will be more 'posable steering' than 'working steering'.
s r
KFS
kits are usually limited, and preordering is the best way to
make sure you get one. For example, here is one of their Michigan
L190s that came out years ago.

Mercedes Benz C-111 Rotary Car |
|
Mercedes Benz C-111 Rotary Powered Car Model Kit |
Hobby
Search will be carrying Owners
Club 1970 Benz C111 Midship Rotary Model Car.
The Benz C111 was a series
of experimental automobiles produced by Mercedes-Benz in the
1960s and 1970s. The company was experimenting with new engine
technologies, including Wankel engines, Diesel engines, and
turbochargers, and used the basic C111 platform as a testbed.
Other experimental features included gullwing doors and a luxurious
interior with leather trim and air conditioning.
The
box art shows the car silver, but the Wikipedia
has some pictures of the 1:1 car which is a gold color.
The
kit is a curbside, but would still be a unique addition to a
model car collection.
