Ford Mustang |

If
you are building a new 2005
/ 2006 Ford Mustangs kit, you may want to consider some
new products from AFX in Scale.
Mainly
their Shelby
type hood and other conversion parts. Pretty cool.

Scale
Auto Magazine has posted some great pictures from both the
NNL
South and NNL
Toledo shows. Check them out.
The
Ala Kart motorcycle
is a very cool idea.

| King
Kong, the 8th Wonder of the World ! |

The
good people at Monsters N Motion just announced a bunch of stuff
to go with the new King
Kong movie for 2005. Of interest to modelers would be the
King
Kong resin kit, which includes a base and a girl figure.
They
also carry a Willis
O'Brien version of Kong himself. This one is articulated,
similar to the original stop-motion one used to make the
original movie in 1933. (Not to be confused with the later
1976 cheesy movie version.) At least the poster art to that
flick was done by John Berkey.
Can
you believe Universal Studios in Florida actually had a King
Kong theme park ride based on that '70's flick ?
Of
course, nowadays, it seems every time a new movie comes out,
someone has to make a video
game of it.

The two kits I built during the hurricane are
now up. Modeling sure passes the time when you have no electricity
and no phone.
One
is a Boss 302 Mustang,
the other a Military Jeep.

| Billing
Jacques Cousteau Calypso Ship Model Kit |
| November
11, 2005 |
For a couple of years now I have been thinking
of getting a Billings
Jacques Cousteau Calypso ship model. The thing is huge, and
it's really made for RC use (I would build it static).
I
have built a plastic model of
the ship, which was a great build for me. But I think I
could do even more detail on a larger version.
While
looking around to see if anyone had built the kit and any tips,
I came across this site - http://www.rachelspages.com/calypso/index.asp.
Even if you don't plan on building a ship model, there are some
interesting tips and ideas for working around some modeling
problems.
It
doesn't look like it's an easy build, and I haven't really made
a decision. But it could be a future project.

American LaFrance Pumper Fire truck Model Kit |

If
you are into Fire Truck kits, Trumpeter releases a new American
LaFrance Pumper kit. The all new tooling will include some
extras, as well as some photoetch. The color pictures are test
shots only, but it looks to be a killer kit.

AMT
did Tim Burton's 1989 Batmobile quite a few years ago in 1/25
scale. In fact, it has been reissued
already since then. But if you ever wanted another kit of
the famed car, Monsters in Motion is mentioning a new
tool in 1/35 scale. Not sure why they chose the military
scale (?).
Looks
like it has a removable engine like the later modified AMT release.
Though the undercarriage looks like it has more detail than
the AMT offering.

Just
got power and DSL back after 2 weeks after Hurricane Wilma.
Thanks to everyone who stuck it out with me and stayed with
the Blog while I was out.
The
good thing is I had a lot of free time, so I have built 2 new
kits to add to the gallery. I will
upload those pictures soon. And
of course, I will mention it here first on the Blog.
