Mad Max Ford Falcon Interceptor |
|
Mad Max Models Built Gallery 2008 |
I've
seen some pretty good builds of the various Mad
Max Ford Falcon Interceptors. Many of them done quite well,
some plastic, and many of them in resin. But if you want to
see some incredible work (and a great many ideas if you plan
on building your own one day), you
want to check out the ones posted on this board.
A
wealth of detail, both inside and out. He's built several versions,
one new and one dirty. And from the first and second movie.
(one is a die cast that has been detailed and weathered, but
you get the idea).
Personally,
I like the car from the first movie, I have never liked the
second version with the tanks in the rear window. But that's
just me.

Scale Auto Community Build - The Wraith |
|
Scale Auto Forum Build 2008 |
Over
at the Scale Auto Forum,
there's a community build going on. Essentially, several
members are building the cars from the movie The Wraith.
Including a scratch built Dodge
PPG Turbo Interceptor.
Be
sure and check it out. Make sure you bookmark it too, because
it's an ongoing build, and several of the models are starting
to shape up. Including the Dodge Daytona, Augie's Firebird,
and Skanks Barracuda.
.."Damn
Gutterboy, this stuff's got some kick ! .."

2008 Shizuoka Hobby Show - HobbyLink Update |
|
2008 Shizuoka Hobby Show 2008 |
Hobbylink
has updated their site with some information and photos from
the 2008 Shizuoka Hobby Show. There looks to be some interesting
items, notably the automotive kits. The ships, military, and
others look a little slim on new offerings. This may be a sign
of the times with the economy unfortunately.
Aoshima
is releasing a 1:24
scale version of the KITT Pontiac Firebird Trans Am from Knight
Rider. While a hair larger, it would make a good companion
to AMT's older 1:25 kit.
Other highlights: Fujimi
1/24 Ferrari 250GTO, Studio
27 1/24 Chevrolet Corvette C6R LM, and a whole bunch of
Nissan
GT-R stuff.
It
appears there may be other versions of the GT-R from Tamiya,
even one with a full engine detail. Which is good news.

Model Contest and Shows |

Model Shows and Contests Galleries 2008 |
Let's
start the month off with a few model galleries:

|
Scratch built Forklift Model |
|
Scratch built Model of a Forklift |
With
some patience and some Evergreen / Plastruct, you can make just
about anything. How about a scratch
built Forklift? In 1:25 Scale.
Pretty
cool. Check out the build online, with step by step pictures
of how it was made. At first a project like this would seem
to be serious modeling task, but once broken down into basic
shapes, you can see how it was constructed. Very nice work.
The
excellent weathering and detail really makes the build stand
out.

Swapey - Where Collectors Meet 2008 |
|
New Swapey Website. |
This
new website Swapey allows
Modelers of all kinds to post pictures online. Currently it
is free. It appears to be a sort of museum, from Comic Books
to Vintage Toys. I don't see any advertising yet, so it's hard
to say what their business model is or how it will be used in
the future.
Still,
if you don't have a website, or a Fotki account, this may be
a good place to post your latest works.
One
thing positive about posting a model pictures is there is an
area for information and a description about the model. Granted,
browsing through 500 pictures in a Fotki account is ok, but
wouldn't you like to know more about the actual model kits used,
and how the build was done?

Movie Replicars Information Website 2008 |
|
Movie Website Information Website TV. |
This
new site Movie Replicars
is sort of a collection of information on the various TV and
Movie products made over the years. They started out with primarily
die cast toys, cars and trucks, etc, but are now adding Model
kits as well. It's a great idea for finding out if a kit was
made or better yet, what the box art looked like.

Moebius Seaview Lighting Kits |
|
Lighting the Moebius Seaview Submarine Model Kit. |
A
couple of people have asked me about lighting kits for the new
Moebius Seaview Model kit.
I don't know of any on the market yet. But Steve over at CultTVMan
mentioned to me that there are a couple in the works, so I recommend
you keep a close eye on
his site for updates.
He
will probably be one of the first companies to have one.
On
a note, this is where I got my own Seaview kit from. They have
great service! :-)

|
Tamiya Nissan GTR Model Kit |
|
Nissan GTR Super Car by Tamiya. |
Tamiya
has (or will soon) release their new tooling, the Nissan GT-R
super car. Hobby
Search will have the kit (and being overseas, should have
them first), so if you want one, you are all set.
I
am seriously disappointed that the kit is a curbside.
The engine is what makes this car so nasty in the first place
(the real GTR has a 480hp 3.8 liter 24-valve V6 twin-turbo engine,
430lbs of torque, top speed 193 mph. The car also has a hand
polished paint coat with 3 clearcoats).
As
you can see by the picture, the engine is just molded under
the hood. Now, the fact that is has a removable hood at all
gives me the idea that the insert can be cut out. Hopefully
giving you room to somehow scratch build an engine of your own.
I'm
on the fence as far as if I will get one. Maybe a resin engine
will become available?

Star Wars Bossk Figure |
|
Star Wars Bossk Figure Model |
Hobby
Search also carries this well done Bossk figure from Star
wars (I think he was a bounty hunter?).
Anyway,
it just looks cool. :-)
