Ford Model T Scratch built out of brass.
How about a Ford Model T entirely scratch built.
Out of brass no less. Including the engine (which
runs ! ) right down to the oil headlamps (that work!).
Quite
an amazing piece of art. It took 17 years to fabricate.
Here is a photo gallery of a builder's work. He
scratch built a 'tooned" up version of a Corvette
Grand Sport. According to his site he spent around
200 hours to do this project.
This IPMS site mentions some new kits coming out
from Revell, from cars to aircraft, to ships and
more. Granted, a bit is in German, but the offerings
are in english. There are even some pictures.
Scroll
down to the bottom there and they even have a small
movie that shows the engine running.
Pretty
intense workmanship.
Racing
Champion is dropping the AMT model kit line
!!
Racing
Champions is dropping the AMT plastic model
kit line if products.
AMT models was purchased years ago by Racing Champions,
the die cast car company. Last year RC purchased
the Polar Lights model company. But it seems these
were not productive mergers.
"During
December 2006, the Company made the decision
to discontinue its Racing Champions®, JoyRide®,
Ertl® and AMT® die-cast and model kit
automotive collectible product lines that on
a combined basis generated approximately $36
million in net sales in 2006 and approximately
$60 million in net sales in 2005. Discontinuing
the automotive collectible product lines is
consistent with the Company’s strategy
to focus on sustainable, organic growth and
on allocating resources to its higher growth
infant products and children’s toys categories."
From
a financial standpoint, I don't think they can afford
to just throw away the molds, so, chances are, another
company will purchase them. But AMT has not yet
specified that will happen.
This
can be a good thing for Modelers, if the right "buyer"
comes along. A company that is composed of diehard
modelers who know how to market the product.
We
have 6 months to go, so we will see how this story
plays out.
Stay
tuned !
AMS
1990 Convention - Stock Car Models & Nascar
AMS
1990 Convention mentioned on TV
The old AMS (American Model Society) group's 1990 Convention
happen to be on TV with a tie in from Nascar. One of the
few times the modeling hobby is brought to the general
public. If you are into Stock Car models, this is definitely
for you. :-)
Running out of model ideas? Boy, if you really want to
go retro, and really go back, check out some of these
concepts
from Radebaugh.
True,
we still don't have those flying or
nuclear powered cars. But the blending with '30's
and 40's technology with futuristic concepts is intriguing.
I
can see custom car model builders seeing more than a couple
of ideas here.

WOW
2007 NNL Model Car Show
Here's
a quick gallery of models from the 2007 Model car Show.
As always, there are a lot of models to look at and inspire
a new project.
Monsters
N Motion is going to carry a new
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde model kit, in 1/8 scale. Based
on Auroras old offering. Originally issued in 1964, this
new model will be available in March 2007. It reflects
to me the original Movie
Dr Jekyll.
From
MM: "James Bama created one of the finest long box
paintings in the Aurora Box line. This model kit is a
REISSUE that Polar Lights was scheduled to finish. The
kit is 1/8 scale, injected plastic parts and comes in
a 13 inch x inch x 2 inch long box (subject to change).
Newly retooled and improved, this kit contains many clear
parts for a visually stunning new look. Retro styled box
uses glued paper labeling as originally used on the first
Aurora
Model release."
Yeah,
yeah, it's die cast, not really a model kit. But you have
to say, Robby has a following. Monsters in Motion is going
to carry this and it's actually pretty cool looking.
From
MM: This robot features head, torso, waist, arms hands,
legs, knees and feet articulation. PLUS you get a scaled
to fit version of the Altair 4 transporter! Made of individual
plastic components and airbrushed to capture the look
of a futuristic hover car as seen in the movie.
The attention to the smallest details on Robby is incredible.
Every detail down to the sax valves, heart box and brass
colored head component details have been faithfully reproduced
in this exciting die cast model. Robby measures a perfect
7" tall and this complete set will be the pride of
your Toy Robot Collection."
Did
you know? The red "ID" monster from the film
was actually animated by Disney Studios.
