Revell Germany Cityliner Buss Model Kit 2008 |
|
Revell Germany Cityliner Bus Model Kit 2008 |
Revell
Germany continues to work on and tempt us with their new 1:24
scale Cityline Bus kit. With a full interior, even an engine
(complete or insert?), it looks to be one heck of a kit. The
removable top is great.
As
I have mentioned before, some may not get excited about doing
a bus, especially with all those seats. But I am thinking motor
home. There are million dollar coaches all across the country,
and this kit is just begging for a scratch built luxury interior.
For
instance, check out Newell's
site for some interior ideas. When you go to their site, click
on Features, then Details, then Floor plans. Great information!
I
wonder if any resin casters plan on any extras?

CKM Carolina Kustom Modelers NNL Event 2008 |
|
Carolina Kustom Modelers NNL Model Show August 16, 2008 |
The
CKM have put together a NNL
style Automotive model event, in North Carolina. The theme
this year is "Gassers".
It should be a pretty big deal, with model builders from all
over the country.
It's
just north of Charlotte, so there are a ton of car and racing
related places, museums, etc, to visit that weekend while at
the model show.

Revell Germany Piper Super Cub 1:32 Scale 2008 |
|
Revell Germany Piper Super Cub Model kit 2008 |
Revell
Germany is getting ready to release their new Piper Cub kit,
in 1:32 scale. Currently, they have
pictures on their site of a built up.
There
have been some smaller kits of the Pipers (1:72, 1:48) but this
1:32 scale looks to be a good project for building. A part of
me wishes it was 1:24 scale, so I could use the Lycoming engine
in a scratchbuilt airboat project. But even 1:32 brings this
small plane into a larger scale for handling and display.

Safari 4WD Model 2008 |
|
Safari 4WD Model Kits 2008 |
Hobby
Search will be carrying this Safari
4WD by Aoshima. It's 1:24 scale, and appears to be a Police
(Emergency?) version. To me it looks like an older Jeep Cherokee
or Wagoneer style body.
There
are some extras parts, the lightbar and such, though I am not
sure what all of them are. The side panels that flip up look
interesting. It would be a unique built to be sure.

CityShrinker Photos 2008 |

CityShrinker Miniature Looking Photos 2008 |
Usually
when a modeler takes a photo of a model, they strive to make
the model, and photo, as real as possible. Using photo backgrounds,
diorama scenes, or outdoor settings, there are several ways
to get your model subject to appear realistic in a photo. To
ask the question: is that a model or the real thing?
Then
there is another way to look at at photos: making a real scene
look like a miniature model.
CityShrinker
has done that. Look over these photos, and while they are taken
of real 1:1 subjects, the photos are minipulated to appear like
tiny model scenes. Almost HO scale in the way they look, it's
very tricky on the eyes. Enjoy!

HLJ Fujimi Large Scale Nissan Skyline GTR 2008 |

HLJ Fujimi Large Scale Nissan Skyline GTR 2008 |
HobbyLink
Japan is carrying a large
scale 1:12 Nissan Skyline GTR. For those of you who like
to build big.
The
assembly is by screws and glue. The opening hood reveals a detailed
engine, right down to the manufacturer's nameplate on top of
engine. While the suspension is non-working, the steering works
via the steering wheel.
Doors
open to show fully detailed interior with instrumentation and
decals for gauges and speakers. It includes a full chassis,
with details, down to the disk calipers with manufacturer's
marks.
Considering
this is a full build kit, and not a curbside, what could be
better?

Accurate Miniatures F2G Super Corsair 2008 |
|
Accurate Miniatures F2G Super Corsair "Miss Port Columbus" |
Accurate
Miniatures is releasing a new F2G
Super Corsair. I have to admit I have a liking to Corsairs,
having built a couple of kits. The Marine versions were made
famous by "Pappy"
Boynton of course, of Baa Baa Black Sheep fame.
The
Super Corsair came about
at the end / after WWII. The 28-cylinder "corncob"
radial engine made this the fastest Corsair ever put into production.
Though it was too late to enter combat, you can fly along with
racing pilot Ron Puckett in this "Miss Port Columbus"
version of the aircraft.
These
aircraft were entered into the Cleveland National Air Races
(Thompson Air Trophy
Races) around 1946 to 1949. there were several paint schemes,
including the one show here on the Accurate Miniatures box art
(very nicely done by the way). Click
here to find out more about these aircraft in the races.
The
1:48 scale kit features: Recessed Panel Lines, Over 60 Injection-Molded
Plastics Parts, Over 50 Resin Parts, Photo-Etch Details, Two
Vac-formed Canopies, Detailed Painting and Finishing Instructions.
