Moebius Models Seaview Submarine from Voyage to the Bottom

Moebius
Models has pulled out all the stops, and released it's all
new Seaview submarine kit. Oh yeah, it's big. Well worth the
wait !
This
baby is clean and finely molded. At around 39-inches long, you'll
be looking around the house to park this larger than life kit.
The best thing is, Moebius went the extra mile, and the kit
includes the underside landing bay, with doors, and a separate
Flying Submarine and Diving Bell.
Even
more, the kit includes a detail interior of the forward bridge!

I
came across this mention online, it's pretty cool. Normally
a public sculpture is an ugly piece of crap welded together
by someone with an eye stigmatism and a blow-torch. But this
statue art makes a great tribute to the writer H.G Wells, and
his Martian Tripod ships.
When
I was a youngster of say, 9 or 10, and discovering the world
of science fiction, War
of the Worlds was one of my favorite books (along with the
Time
Machine, and several Jules
Verne books). Another one that comes to mind is The
Shy Stegosaurus of Cricket Creek. A good book if your young
kids like Dinosaurs. Another one for some reason was The
Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet. I actually still
have a copy of that one ! I also remember a series of Danny
Dunn books. The Time Traveling one being my favorite. How
cool would it be to travel in time to meet Benjamin Franklin?
All of these were the sparks that led me down the Scifi path
as it were. LOL
Later
in my high school days I read sci-fi books, primarily paperbacks,
almost endlessly. Many good ones I still remember today at 46.
Books such as Macroscope
by Piers Anthony. I remember reading that book at lunch
in the cafeteria at school because I simply could not put it
down! It was a monster to read through.
I
used to read a bunch of cheaper double printed books in my high
school days (1970's), meaning, it had two covers. One way was
printed where you read the story, then flipped the book around,
and read another. They were printed back to back. Two stories
to a book. I remember one where the characters of the book were
stars, running around the cosmos. At first glance, this seems
nonsense, but if you imagine a million years as being a mere
second in time, the scifi science itself seemed plausible enough
to wrap a story around it. Wish I could remember the name of
that book.....
I
rarely have time to read fiction nowadays with daily life. My
last readings were all of the Harry Potter books. ( LOL! Honestly,
can you read just one?). I still have 30 or 40 scifi paperback
books, primarily Star Trek ones. (I should dump those on eBay
:-).
I
hope kids today still read fiction. Whatever their interest,
it can be a real spark to something that will stay with you
the rest of your life.

Fujmi
is releasing some new kits. This list was compiled by a board
member at Model
Cars Magazine, and I am re posting it here. I personally

New Rocketfin Resin Search 2008 |

I
have added a new feature to Rocketfin. I have always recieved
a lot of emails from people looking for a particular model kit,
usually made in resin.
It's not always easy finding something online, for a number
of reasons. Most small one man companies do not have the time
or skill to work on a website, so they do what they can when
they can, with little funds. (Resin products are HAND MADE one
at a time, so you can imagine how time consuming and labor intensive
that is).
This
usually creates a situation where the code is so bad, not even
Google can spider the site well. (which means, it shows up 225,000
pages deep in a search).
Anyway,
I have just as hard a time finding a resin product online as
you do. But to help me find stuff, and visitors who may email
me, I decided what us modelers really needed was a database
we could serach instantly.
Enter
the Rocketfin RESIN CAR AND TRUCK
RESIN SEARCH.
For
now, it just has 1:20 to 1:25 scale resin cars and trucks, currently
around 350+ as of this writing, and more are being added.
If it becomes popular, and I get some
feedback on it, I will expand it into other areas, such
as Scifi, Aircraft, Figures, etc.
It's
very flexible, and will search many ways. Just type in your
favorite car make (Ford), or a year (1963), or use a work like
"Woody", and it will instantly give you a list of
products in the database.
Each
entry has a picture of the product, and if it's still in production,
information on where to buy them. I built this FOR MODELERS,
AND BY MODELERS. If you have information on a resin car or truck
in your collection, let me know,
and let's add it online for the communuity. :-)

Looks
