There
are two versions of the movie. The original in 1971 and
a TV one made in the 1991, though the model kit box really
doesn't specify which movie the model represents.
The
small thumbnail image on the cover is the only clue, and
even with that, it's hard to say.
Either
way, the Dodge Challenger
kit with the movie tie-in was long overdue for a release.
Besides,
in the original, what other movie features a nude young
girl riding a motorbike who wants to help out when you're
hiding from the cops in the desert?...choices, choices...
Anyway,
it's a cult classis 1970's car movie. I think they shot
it in about 30 days, with next to no money, and 3 original
cars donated by Dodge.
Original
Challenger and Barracuda 1970-1974 - Renowned for their
sleek shapes and prodigiously powerful engines, the Chrysler
corporation's Challenger and Barracuda were among the top
cars of the muscle car era. This book will demonstrate the
correct parts, finishes, options, and trim pieces for all
the versions of the E-body Dodge
Challenger and Plymouth Barracuda, which appeared from
1970 to 1974. Especially important to this are the variety
of engine options available, including the hemispherical-head
engines-Hemis-that are so crucial to the mystique of these
muscle cars.
Challenger
& Barracuda Restoration Guide, 1967-1974 - This book
provides valuable illustrations and photos of these
beautiful automobiles, and also some of the little known details
that can help make your restoration complete. Extremely useful
for coming to understand the different options that were available
for your model year, and more importantly, those little things
that were unique to a particular year model.
Barracuda
& Challenger Muscle Car Color History - Excellent
book for visual identification of 1964-1974 cars. Text
is somewhat general in content, but clear and easy to read.
Book also gives production figures broken down by models for
each year--a nice extra !!!
Vanishing
Point - Tighten your seat belt. You never had a trip like
this before. Kowalski, the hero of the story, works for a
car delivery service. He takes delivery of a 1970 Dodge Challenger
to take from Colorado to Frisco, California. Shortly after
pickup, he takes a bet to get the car there in less than 15
hours. After a few run-ins with motorcycle cops and highway
patrol they start a chase to bring him into custody. Along
the way, Kowalski is guided by Supersoul - a blind DJ with
a police radio scanner. Throw in lots of chase scenes, gay
hitchhikers, a naked woman riding a motorbike, lots of Mopar
and you've got a great cult hit from the early 70's.
