Eddie
builds his own guitars (he used to use Kramer
parts, but who knows what he uses today, he's been affiliated
with several guitar manufacturers over the years), and the
patterns he paints on them are his own (in fact, he uses
Schwinn
bicycle paint and tape to create his designs, namely his
famous "Frankenstein" pattern).
From
the article I read, the reason he said he uses that paint
is, "...the more you sand it the shinier it gets".

Boyd
has duplicated such patterns subtlety on the sides of the
truck, and the kit does so with decals.
Even
without the famous tie-in, the kit itself is a good representation
of these style Chevy trucks. The tires and wheels are exceptional.
This kit has very good detail. It's hard to believe it does
not get reissued more often.
I
have already built one of these kits (alas, no pictures
of that one), but I look farward to building another.
The original EVH truck just out of storage. Eddie
then had it restored

Secrets of the Guitar Legends: How to Sound Like Your Favorite
Players- Two veteran music journalists reveal the keys
to playing like a pro. With interviews, rig diagrams, amplifier
settings, sound tips, and audio samples, this book reveals
how guitarists can capture the sounds of their favorite players,
including Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, the guitarists of Pearl
Jam, Metallica, and Korn, plus many other guitarists. 30 photographs
and a CD that includes tracks in the style of each of the
players featured in the book are also included.
Electric
Guitars: The Illustrated Encyclopedia- From the award
winning team that produced the best selling Ultimate Guitar
Book comes the most comprehensive book about the electric
guitar. Its A-to-Z format covers more than 120 makers
from around the world and details their successes and failures
through 1,200 unique color, studio quality photographs.
The book focuses on the iconic electric guitar with an introduction
that places the electric guitar van halen in a historical
context, running from early acoustic instruments in the 16th
century to amplification experiments in the 1930's. The main
body of the book is the A-to-Z of brands, covering the key
65-year period from 1935 to 2000.
EVH
Phase 90 Phase Shifter pedal- This pedal has found
its way into many of Eddie Van Halen's recordings, adding
a shimmery velocity to lead passages or a more dramatic swoosh
to muted strumming. Not just for guitars; it works well with
bass, keyboards and even vocals. Vary the effect speed from
a subtle, long cycle to a fast, watery warble...and myriad
vintage vibrations in between.
Van
Halen A Visual History - From their eponymous 1978 debut
through their colossal 1984 album (they've sold over 75 million
albums worldwide), Van Halen rewrote all the rules. Nobody
rocked—or partied—harder. Photographer Neil Zlozower
first met the band in 1978, worked with them again on Van
Halen II, and soon became their friend, hanging out in L.A.
and hitting the road on tour with them. Van Halen collects
more than 250 backstage, candid, and full rock-out photos
of the all-powerful, spandexed, high-kicking, guitar blazing,
stadium-shaking, original Van Halen lineup. Accompanying Zlozower's
amazing photos are an introduction about his wild ride with
VH, a foreword by David Lee Roth, and testimony from the rock
pantheon paying homage to the band, including members of Led
Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard, Judas Priest, KISS,
Motley Crüe, and more. Turn it up!
