From
Airfix (originally an Aurora kit?) we have the 2001:
A Space Odyssey Pan Am Orion shuttle kit.
The
scale is 1/144, but don't let that fool you. The kit is
about a foot long.
The
reissued box art work did not show the now defunct Pan Am
logos, however, those are included on the decal sheet. A
classic kit, it resembles something NASA
may have developed.
Creating
Space: The Story of Space Through Model Kits Book - Mat
Irvine is a former member of BBC’s Visual Effects
Department and the cameraman behind programs including
Doctor Who, Blake’s 7 and Edge Of Darkness. Gives a
complete chronicle of space vehicles developed worldwide,
side by side with pictures and details of models.
Spaceship
Handbook - Spaceship Handbook's subject is the historical
development of the Spaceship during the 20th Century. Arranged
in three Sections, "The Theoreticians," "The
Entertainers," and "The Real Stuff," it presents
an amazing collection of 75 designs and their stories
- from Tsiolkovsky and Oberth's engineering papers, through
the golden age of movie science fiction, up to the present
day's Lockheed "VentureStar" and Rotary Rocket "Roton."
2001:
Filming the Future - Piers Bizony's great work in putting
the pieces together of Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece 2001:
A Space Odyssey. Probably one of the most complex look at
any film that I have come across in full detail. The book
is in large format with slick pages and color photos everywhere
to give you a behind the camera view of the work being accomplished.
This book is highly recommended for film students, movie lovers
and Stanley Kubrick fans.
