Polar Lights
Addams Family Haunted House Model Kit
This
was Polar Lights very first kit they came out with. The
entire kit is molded with parts that glow in the dark.
By
building the mechanism inside, you can make the "ghosts"
move around in the windows. This kit had a lot going for
it, there are very few kits like it on the market.
It
also includes printed cardboard pictures which you can cut
out and insert into the window openings.
I
think if Polar Lights had done slightly better boxes, and
let builders know about these wonderful features, they would
have sold a ton more of them.
TV
Sets: Fantasy Blueprints of Classic TV Homes - This book
of architectural blueprints is a loving, if obsessive, tribute
to the minutiae of televised domestic life. Author Mark Bennett's
excruciatingly detailed plans span 25 years of television
history, from Tiger's doghouse on The Brady Bunch to The Addams
Family's entire manor, including Lurch's harpsichord, Gomez's
train set, and Uncle Fester's laboratory. Also included
are Laverne and Shirley's bachelorette pad, The Jetson's space
unit, and Archie and Edith Bunker's Queens row house. Incredibly,
all the plans are drawn to be architecturally feasible; that
is, one could actually build from them. To accomplish this
feat, the author often had to imagine rooms and areas not
shown on the television programs, but only referred to, like
Ward Cleaver's den or Ralph and Alice Kramden's bedroom. Included
are detailed renderings not only of the characters' homes,
but their entire towns, such as the whole of Mayberry and
a complete layout of Gilligan's Island.
Weird
Cars: A Century Of The Worlds's Strangest Cars - Haynes
has excelled itself with Weird Cars, a celebration of eccentric
cars in all shapes and sizes — some of the most ugly,
crazily designed, and downright awkward vehicles of all time.
Where else would you find, in one book, descriptions and
photographs of automotive oddities as diverse as the Aberdonia,
Gaylord Gentleman, Purves Dynasphere, Suminoe Flying Feather,
and Zil.

Circus
and Carnival Trucks 1923-2000: Photo Archive - "Being
an over 30 year member of the Circus Model Builders and
known for the circus truck models I have built, this book
has a lot of picture history. I remember seeing the truck
that is on the cover when I was a child and it brings back
memories. I have never seen any of the photos in this book
before and many of the over land trucks I have seen in person.
This book is a must for all people interested in the circus
or the many types of trucks circuses used.
