Military
Jeep: Enthusiasts' Manual - The Jeep was the primary light
four-wheel-drive vehicle of the US Army and allies during
the Second World War and the post-war period. It was originally
designed to meet a 1940 US Army specification, and over 600,000
examples were built in both Ford and Willys forms. The Jeep
saw service all over the world, and a healthy number of restored
authentic military examples can still be seen today in the
hands of enthusiasts. This book provides a brief history of
this iconic vehicle, and a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight
into what is involved in restoring, operating and maintaining
a Jeep today, 70 years after the prototype first appeared.
Jeeps
1941-1945 - The jeep was the most famous military vehicle
of World War II, and its name has become synonymous with a
whole class of military and civilian all-terrain vehicles.
The jeep originated in a prewar US Army requirement for a
simple, inexpensive, and robust vehicle for basic utility
chores. Its simple design proved to be adaptable to a host
of military tasks including use as a scout vehicle, battlefield
ambulance, communications vehicle, and staff car. This book,
covering “the savior of World War II”, focuses
on the design and development of this versatile vehicle used
on nearly every front of World War II.

Catalog of U.S. Military Vehicles- David Doyle's interest
in full size military vehicles was sparked as a boy when his
father gave him a ride in an M211 6X6. Years later, David
began collecting and restoring post-WWII 6X6 vehicles, with
an emphasis on special-purpose trucks. He is a member of the
Military Vehicle Preservation Association, Society for the
Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus,
The Studebaker Drivers Club, and the American Truck Historical
Society. He is also a columnist for Military Vehicles Magazine
and a regular contributor to Army Motors.
M3A1
White Scout Car - Armor Walk Around- The White Motor Company
began serial production of the four-wheel-drive M3A1 Scout
Car in 1940. Covered in quarter-inch face-hardened armor,
the vehicle served the US military as scout, command car,
ambulance and in some cases as a gun tractor. Armed with one
.50 caliber and two .30 caliber machine guns on a skate rail
that completely surrounded the f ighting compartment, the
M3A1 saw action in the Philippine tropics, the North African
desert and during the 1943 invasion of Sicily. However, US
forces soon replaced the open-topped M3A1 with other armored
vehicles that afforded better coverage. Because the vehicle
was widely exported it served on - heavily used by the Red
Army on the Eastern Front and by Free French, Belgian, Czechoslovak
and Polish forces throughout WWII. Later, France took the
vehicle into combat in colonial wars in Indochina and Algeria.
Illustrated with more than 200 photographs, plus color profiles
and detailed line drawings. 80 pages.
