This
is a Horizon Terminator T2 kit I built. It is made
from soft plastic vinyl. The base I made from a piece of base
wood and various leftover model parts, and weathered with
a small skull and a scratch built Laser gun I made.
(The
skull on the base is one I got from Disney World, from the
Pirates of the Caribbean store. Though the last time I went
there, they did not have them. Maybe they're not politically
correct anymore ?).
The
base texture was made with Elmers Wood Putty, and it does
a good job of holding all the 'stuff' in place. Paint seems
to stick to it well, though it can be crumbly if you handle
it to much. It's easy to touch up.
The
model is painted with Acrylic Silver paints, over a black
base to fill the cracks and add texture. The arms are posable.
The black behind him rod came with the kit for support. This
figure is around 13 inches high.
The
kit also included what looked like "base guitar"
strings for detail hoses. Some parts were difficult to glue
and attach together, but overall, it is a good kit.
Horizon
produced a video which I used to have a copy of, that was
well done and showed you how to paint and detail their kits.
If I remember right, I think this Terminator kit was one of
the examples they used.
Horizon
made a lot of great kits, to bad they are gone. Most of their
kits were of TV and movie subjects. In the end, licensing
fees are probably what put them out of business. It certainly
wasn't for the lack of kit subjects, they had many in their
lineup.
I
built one of the Cable figures (from the comic books), which
was a fantastic kit. (wish I had a picture of it). I still
have a couple of their kits today.
