bebop lines of guitarists Tal Farlow and jimmy Raney, inspired
by the harmonic intricacy of saxophonists like Charlie Parker,
had become the benchmark for a generation of jazz guitarists in
the 1950s. It's full of photos and great facts, and the lineage
of models and history of the manufacturers. What is really neat
are the photos of all the odd models made by companies other than
the big names like Fender and Gibson. Besides all the fine photos
and great layout, there is a lot of interesting information about
the influence and use of various guitars on different bands and
sounds from the sixties.

Hits (which was first released in 1967 with 11 tracks) covers
the highlights of the band from its first single "Louie Louie"

before Mark Lindsay took over as producer for the remainder of
their career. They had a few more hits--notably the chart-topping
"Indian Reservation".
