A MonogramInvaders UFOkit. I built this stock out
of the box. It's a simple, but unique kit. I painted it
with Testors Flat silver with a coat of Testors Gloss.
The
bottom has clear red domes (for the engines?). Small figures
are included for the cockpit.
Glencoe
UFO Flying Saucer Alien Model Kit
A
Glencoe UFO kit. I
painted it with an RC color, a bright fluorescent green
paint. The pilot figure (or at least, his head), glows in
the dark. A simple kit, but fun to slap together.
The
base is shaped sort of like a half globe, and supports the
model well. It detaches easily. This version was molded
in an ugly metallic gray / silver. The UFO body is about
3 to 4 inches in width.
Hmmm, interesting crop circle decals it came with too...
Totally
1950's, but fun. Glencoe is one of those older model companies
that has some interesting and unusual kits in their lineup.
The
Flying Saucer - The CIA sends playboy Mike Trent to Alaska
with agent Vee Langley, posing as his "nurse," to
investigate flying saucer sightings. At first, installed in
a hunting lodge, the two play in the wilderness. But then
they sight a saucer. UFO Investigating, our heroes clash with
an inept gang of Soviet spies, also after the saucer secret.
Bamboo
Saucer - A pilot is testing out a new aircraft when he
spots a flying saucer. Naturally it jams the radar as all
flying saucers do and no one believes him, not even his relatives.
So he uses a laser devise that is immune to static to track
down the saucer.
Our government shoves a sketch under his noses for verification.
Yep that is it. It is the height of the cold war and a downed
saucer is found in RED china. So there is a race between a
group of Americans and Ruskies to see who gets there before
the Chinese Government finds out. We get all the mix of good
guys, and bad guys, nationalists, and individuals. They (and
we) must learn what makes the other side tick and to get along
on the mission. The American pilot advisor John Ericson runs
into the female Russian scientist Lois Nettleton while she
is taking a shower. Later he keeps running into her verbally.
Eventually through all the bantering the form a mutual affection.
Lost
Saucer - Ruth Buzzi and Jim Neighbors play androids Fi
and Fum who pick up a kid and his baby sitter and take off
in their flying saucer, and cant find their way back to earth
to take them home.
Female
Space Invader / Starcrash - Often written off as a rider
on the tails of Star Wars, but actually an intelligent spoof
of lots of SF films. See how many SF films you can identify
watching this.. Obviously not to be taken seriously and not
a comedy, it is nevertheless a warm hearted sf film, and you
get to see Caroline Munro as Stella Star, not wearing much
too. The universe is in the grip of darkness, under the hateful
eye of Count Zarth Arn. Hidden deep within his fortress, the
Count seeks to destroy the Good Emperor and his kingdom. Knowing
these plans, the emperor employs a trio of adventurers led
by the best pilot in the galaxy, the beautiful and irrepressible
Stella Star. An epic struggle between the forces of evil and
the sophisticated sorcery of fearless heroes is realized when
Stella and her comrades, using their wits and technological
wizardry, battle intergalactic robots, deadly troglodytes,
prehistoric men and ultimately the Count himself.
Spaced
Invaders - They're hip! They're hilarious! Earth will
never be the same! It's a close encounter of the hilarious
kind when five of the universe's coolest aliens crash-land
on planet Earth! Piloted by an ultrahip Martian, the cosmic
crew ends up in a sleepy Midwestern town. Unfortunately, it's
Halloween night and the citizens mistake these spaced invaders
for harmless trick-or-treaters. Instead of the global invasion
they planned on, these misguided Martians bungle their way
into a series of madcap misadventures! Get set for an outrageous
blast of intergalactic fun and outlandish special effects
in this wacked-out comedy-adventure!
