Creature from the Black Lagoon Model Kit

creature from the black lagoon

A Monogram Creature from the Black Lagoon. I built this pretty much stock. With a coat of green paint, and gold highlights. (the original movie was in black and white, so I guess any color goes).

There was some kind of animal on the base, I did not like it so I left it off. This is a good subject to build. And fun.

I have met Ricou Browning, the actor who did the underwater Creature in the original movie. He also worked on James Bond films and Flipper.

  • Creature from the Black Lagoon - For the first time ever, the original Creature from the Black Lagoon film comes to DVD in this extraordinary Legacy Collection. Included in the collection is the original classic, starring Richard Carlson, and two timeless sequels, featuring such legendary actors as John Agar and Jeff Morrow. These are the landmark films that inspired an entire genre of movies and continue to be major influences on motion pictures to this day.
  • American Drive-in Movie Theater - Tracing the history, geography, and ideology of the American drive-in movie theater, authors Don and Susan Sanders present a densely illustrated look at American culture at its most shallow, sensual, and delightful. Noting the need of the newly created class of motorized, moneyed teenagers of the 1940s and '50s to find a dark and private place for their pubescent pastimes, the Sanders place the origin of this outdoor entertainment form in the birth of popular culture. The sections on the amusement park-style rides, refreshments, and attractions that were used to lure the bored and their cash to this form of voyeurism are especially delightful (the "Mono-Rocket" ride and the new high-speed food dispensers provide intriguing images of capitalist inventiveness). In spite of its Pollyanna-ish tone, The American Drive-In Movie Theater works as both a celebration and an insightful analysis of this passing phase of pre-couch potato folly.
  • Cinema Under the Stars: America's Love Affair With the Drive-In Movie Theater - The automobile and the motion picture industry are icons of American life.
  • Lost America: The Abandoned Roadside West - A stunningly photographed examination of the roadside icons that dot America's landscape. Lost America celebrates the boom-to-bust towns, aircraft bone yards, and filling stations of days past that were sacrificed at the altars of speed and technology and relegated to windswept desert plains and abandoned fields. The eye-catching and memorable photography is complemented with a succinct text history that details the rise and fall of each subject. The result is an impressive tour of an America still standing, yet largely forgotten.
  • Universal Monsters: Cavalcade of Horror - The Mummy, Frankenstein, Dracula, The Creature from the Black Lagoon! Featuring long out-of-print artwork by the white-hot Tony Harris (Ex Machina, Starman) and artist Art Adams (Monkeyman & O'Brien), as well as a brand new introduction and painted cover by multiple Eisner Award Winner Eric Powell (The Goon), this collection tells the original stories of the Universal monsters - Frankenstein, the Mummy, Dracula, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
