- Hot
Rod Pin-ups - For as long as young men have been channeling,
chopping, and hopping up rods and customs, women-whether loyal
girlfriends or trouble-seeking 'bad girls'-have been integral
to the scene. In this unique portfolio evoking great 1950s
pin-up artists like Vargas and Elvgren, talented photographer
David Perry depicts models in and out of cherry-picked rods
and customs and wearing painstakingly chosen period dress
and hairstyles. More than 100 photos present these
modern-day pin-ups under three themes: Garage,
Cruising, and Race. In addition, essays explore each topic
and are accompanied by pulp novel covers, period mags, and
ads that place the photography in a historical context.
- Bond
Girls are Forever : The Women of James Bond - Sexy, stunning,
bold, and brazen, the women in James Bond movies are among
the most interesting females in films. Attacked by some feminists
in the 1960s and 1970s as sex objects, the Bond
women today are seen as self-confident, sexually assured
role models. Teeming with anecdote, first-person testimony,
intelligent commentary, and a wealth of visual material, from
film stills to memorabilia, Bond Girls Are Forever explores
the mystery and mystique behind the Bond women-as heroes and
villains, as actors and characters, as love
objects and mother figures, as steely bureaucrats and
trained killers.

Illustrated Knockouts: Five Decades of Sports Illustrated
Swimsuit Photography
- Sports Illustrated Knockouts: Five Decades
of Swimsuit Photography celebrates the art of that uniquely
American institution, the Sports Illustrated annual swimsuit
issue. Beginning with the inaugural issue on January 24, 1964,
which featured model Babette March in a modest four-page spread,
Knockouts goes on to document the evolution of the swimsuit
issue through five decades of models who, largely by virtue
of their appearances here, became celebrities, including Elle
Macpherson, Cheryl Tiegs, Tyra Banks, and Kathy Ireland. Besides
assembling a selection of the best photographs in book form
for the first time, Knockouts offers an ample selection of
out takes and other previously unpublished photos,
various quotes from models, photographers, art directors,
and commentaries on the logistics and technical aspects of
the shoots and the exotic ports of call in which they were
staged.
