A
Monogram 1965 / 1966 Mustang
made into a rally style car. This is the "R" version
of that kit, though they make 3 different kinds of the same
kit. This kit is one of my favorites, it is easy to build
and the detail is very good.
On
this kit I made modifications. I lowered the front end some,
and radiused the front wheel wells. It has a 289 engine, which
I wired and detailed some. The decals are out of different
kits, some of them Slixx.
This
"R" kit has a great set of rims. Also the correct
front lower valance panel, no back seat, tower brace bar,
and the correct rear window. (the rear window has a gap between
the roof line and glass. On the real cars, that was to let
heat out of the interior because the real race cars were hot
inside).
The
other 2 versions of the kit are the Shelby stock version (also
released as the black "H" Hertz version) and a convertible
Pace Car version. All the kits share some of the same parts,
all are great kits.
A
1965 and 1966 are the same basically, though a '65 has small
rear side windows, and a 1966 they were sometimes covered
to cut costs.
The
car is painted with Testors
Gloss Yellow and Gloss White.

Annual.
