My
wife and I owned this 1956 Mercury for around 7 years.
I ended up putting a new 350 chevy engine in it (I would have
used a Ford engine, but they didn't sell brand new engines
at the time, only rebuilts) and redoing most of the car. The
outside was painted a baby blue color (my wife's favorite
color).
It was a blast to drive, everyone loved the car.

Fifties
Flashback: The American Car - Fifties Flashback The American
Car Dennis Adler No other era in automotive history is as revered
as the 1950s, when Detroit was the center of the auto world and
the American V-8 was king of the road. With hundreds of color
photos of beautiful restorations and a collection of rare
archival photos, Dennis Adler has compiled a detailed history
of the emerging postwar American auto industry.
The
Ultimate Classic Car Book - Images of handsome vintage cars
are generously spread across large glossy pages in this satisfyingly
useful book. An introduction covers what the term "classic
car" means, goes on to discuss such models by decade, and
has a section on the purchase of such a vehicle. One-paragraph
profiles of innovators such as Andre Citrone, Ferdinand Porsche,
and Lee Iacocca are included. But the drawing card here is the
cars. There are more than 90 of them, all displayed in splendid
full-color photographs. Front, side, and top views are shown in
close up shots of dashboards, grills, interiors, etc. Nothing
as crass as purchase price is mentioned. Definitely the stuff
of dreams.
