Racing Cars: Secrets Of The Sensational Sixties Sports-Racers
-It was a golden era. Horsepower was unlimited; designers, builders,
and drivers just needed to harness the horses of massive engines
and deliver their thrust to the track. It was an age of 8-liter
aluminum Chevys, turbo charged Oldsmobiles, flat-12 Porsches,
and the best and brightest designers from McLaren, BRM, Lola,
March, Shadow, AAR, Caldwell, Kar Kraft, and others who designed
cars to suit them.

the world’s most complex sport. Their thoughts are captured
here, from choosing the best chassis and most advanced suspension
to building the strongest gearbox, providing an unmatched insider

- Cunningham
Sports Cars: American Racing Legends 1951-1955 -Cunningham
sports cars. He burst into view in 1951 with his Chrysler-powered
C-2 sports-racers and in 1952 launched the production C-3, a
Vignale-bodied car built as both a coupe and cabriolet. Some
two dozen were made. The C-4R was his 1952 racer, still Chrysler-powered,
which performed well at Le Mans and with Phil Walters and John
Fitch was all but unbeatable in American racing. Radical with
its solid-axle front end and colossal drum brakes, the C-5R
of 1953 was a challenger to the Jaguars at Le Mans. In 1954
Cunningham raced a much-modified Ferrari with water-cooled brakes
and in 1955 introduced his C-6R, beautifully engineered by Briggs
Weaver and Offenhauser powered. Fabulous unpublished pictures
from the Ludvigsen Library show these great cars on the track
and at rest. panache. They carried the American flag !

every page, show the crew, the cars, the drivers, the track,
and the pulsing action.

The Motorsport Photography of Jesse Alexander, 1954-1962
-Driven collects the best of internationally acclaimed racecar
photographer Jesse Alexander's work taken between 1954-1962,
the height of the golden age of the European Grand Prix. During
the pinnacle of continental glamour, Alexander took his camera
throughout Europe, following this intimate group of fearless
racecar drivers from Grand Prix to Mille Miglia, and capturing
their heroic wins and narrow defeats. In one photograph Jackie
Stewart accepts the Grand Prix trophy cup from Prince Rainier
and Princess Grace. Alexander's images hum with an energy and
seduction second only to the sleek bodies and powerful engines
of these now vintage Maseratis, Mercedes, Ferraris, and Porsches.
His captions describe the renegade adventures, dangerous courses,
and technological breakthroughs of the time.
