Game Graphics : Behind the Scenes of Your Favorite Games
- Each of
the 26 games covered (including Final Fantasy X2, Soulcalibur
2, and Oni Musha 2) gets its own fully illustrated chapter to
describe the game and take readers beyond what is seen on the
screen. The artists, illustrators, and creators of each game are
extensively interviewed and they themselves describe what is unique
about their game, what challenges they had to overcome to create
the game, and how the characters and stories were created. They
also describe what software and digital techniques (often invented
especially for the game) were used to create the look and feel
of each game and game world.
Making
of Final Fantasy - the Spirits Within Art - The Making of
FINAL FANTASY: The Spirits Within book will feature an inside
look into the making of the movie. The book includes story boards,
the movie script, concept sketches, and images of the characters,
sets and props from the movie. Behind-the-scenes information and
interviews with the creative minds behind this ground-breaking
production. The book brings to light the truly staggering level
of work and detail involved in the movie's development.
Science
Fiction Poster Art- Science fiction films span movie history,
beginning no later than George Melies' 1902 adaptation of Verne's
From the Earth to the Moon that ends with the space capsule poking
the man in the moon in the eye. Movie makers have labored hard
to produce images as memorable as that one, and if they have frequently
failed, the artists who publicize their wares have usually succeeded.
The couple hundred posters presented here are stunners, reproduced
sharply and in brilliant color from mint- and near-mint-condition
prints.
The
World Encyclopedia of Submarines: An Illustrated Reference To
Underwater Vessels Of The World Through History, From The Nautilus
And Hunley To Modern Nuclear-Powered Submarines - A country-by-country
guide to over 100 submarines from around the world. John Parker,
a writer and journalist all his working life, has authored three
dozen books and published more than 75 editions worldwide in his
long career, including many acclaimed military and investigative
projects, as well as numerous high-profile biographies. His interest
in military and naval subjects, however, has consumed much of
his working life in recent years, inspired not so much by the
examination and recording of past events, vital though that is,
but in seeking greater insight into the heroic efforts and sheer
creative steadfastness of the lifeblood of any military activity:
the men (and latterly women) and their machines. His books have
been noted for their wealth of personal recollections of those
at the sharp end of military activity and he has relied upon their
testimony, gathered from either personal interviews or documentary
and tape-recorded accounts recovered from regimental and national
archives in Britain, Europe and America, acquiring in the process
an outstanding personal record of human endeavour and inventiveness
that has abounded, wherever and whenever the need became pressing.
Of particular interest was the unprecedented access he was given
on approval from the Ministry of Defence for his history of the
security-conscious Special Boat Service, for which he as able
to interview many former and existing members of that organization
which famously combined the use of Special Forces and submarines
during World War II and beyond.
