Notes

The plants and the rest of the textures and scene are all Bryce. The lighting of the scene has been modified in Photoshop. Rendering for some reason was quite a lot of time on this one. Maybe because of the high quality of the butterfly.

A Bug's Life : The Art and Making of an Epic of Miniature Proportions - This collector's edition of A Bug's Life deserves ongoing mention is a fun accompaniment to the film, requiring good reading skills or parental assistance but pairing film clips with an outline of the story. Visual insights, art and insider's info abound.

Soft As Steel: The Art of Julie Bell- From metallic images to super heroes, Julie Bell's illustrations emanate power and sensuality. The term "metal flesh" has been coined to express one of her distinct styles, making it the trademark of her work. A series of exotic fantasy realms come to life with astounding vividness in her paintings, in which the bodies appear to be a melding of cold steel and vulnerable human flesh.

Working your way through comprehensive, step-by-step lessons, you'll develop the confidence you need to create amazing graphics using Poser.

A World Of Butterflies- The patterns and colors of butterfly wings can be as complex and brilliant as those of fine tapestries, but they’re often hard to appreciate as the little insects flutter from flower to flower. In this gorgeous little nature album (it’s 3.5" x 6"), Sandved gets butterflies to hold still—by capturing them in close-up photographs—and the secrets that he reveals can be breathtaking. There are butterflies, like the Adonis Blue and the Red Glider, whose deep hues resemble jewels, and others, like the Callicore Hydaspes, whose boldly patterned wings seem like studies in composition. Some butterflies, like the Ninety-Eight butterfly, even seem to flaunt whimsical designs of numbers, faces or hearts. The background text by Cassie is minimal: just enough to tell readers about butterfly anatomy, reproduction, migration, feeding and mimicry. Cassie also accompanies each image with a concise summary of that butterfly’s habitat, range and habits. All in all, this is a lovely book—small enough to take on a butterfly-watching expedition, but pretty enough to display on a coffee table.
