I came across this article online from Wired, showing some scale models from the Space Agency in it's early years. There are some interesting ideas if you like to build NASA Space models. Check them out and see what you think.

There are many NASA models that have been issued over the years, many Apollo and Space Shuttle kits. Lately, Dragon has produced around 10 or so that have been well recieved by modelers. Model companies have done a pretty good job covering our space exploration hardware.

Revell has reissued their 1/72 scale NASA Space Shuttle, this time with the Booster Rockets and Fuel Tank.

This 128 part kit features a detailed space shuttle with a realistic fuel tank and booster rockets, a detailed opening cargo bay with optional payload assemblies, a display stand and decal markings for all six space shuttles (Enterprise, Columbia, Discovery, Endeavor, Challenger and Atlantis).

Once assembled, the scale model is around 31.5 inches long. Almost 3 feet!

The real shuttle may be retired, but that won't stop modelers from building this fine example of a model kit for their own.

Fantastic Plastic has released their new resin kit for the Boeing X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV).

The kit is 1:72 scale, and is composed of 8 parts. The decals are by JBOT. This would be a good kit to go with your Monogram / Revell 1:72 Space Shuttle. This spaceship is one of NASA's new replacements for the aging Shuttle, though this one is unmanned, and not the only replacement. In a cost cutting move for the future, this one can launch a sataellite, but be reused over and over.

The kit looks crisp and clean, and a little painting should really bring out the details without much fuss.
